Book:  Blizzards Wake by Nalor Phyllis Reynolds

The book Blizzad's Wake is about a massive blizzard that hit Grand Forks, North Dakota in March, 1941. A young girl is trying to save her father and brother who were caught in the storm. While she is saving her family she unknowingly saves the man who killed her mother four years ago. Now she is stuck in the same house as her mother’s murderer and she is having thoughts of killing him. Will she forgive him or kill him?

What does your friend need to know in order to read this book?

I recommend this book because it shows how to forgive others as well as yourself. It is also a suspenseful story filled with love, hate, friendship, and forgiveness. It also shows that your parents love you no matter what you say or do.

Book:  Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Thirteen Reasons Why is the story about a girl who kills herself. She leaves seven tapes behind and sends them to each person who helped bring her to suicide. This book is brilliant. It's extremely well-written, moves easily and it's as terrifying as it is realistic. I would highly recommend this book, even you have never thought about suicide or known someone who has. You never know everything about a person and this really illustrates that.

What does your friend need to know in order to read this book?

It's about a suicidal girl, so it's slightly dark, but it's not too graphic. I would recommend it for readers thirteen (get it? "Thirteen"? Thirteen Reason Why? :D) and up, but anyone could read it.

Book:  The Second Mrs. Giaconda by E.L. Konigsburg

The book is about a boy named Salai. He is a poor pick-pocket, and a shoemaker's son until Leonardo Da Vinci catches him and makes Salai his apprentice. Though Salai has very little talent and is irresponsible it somehow helps Leonardo. This is a very descriptive book, but some places are a bit boring...

What does your friend need to know in order to read this book?

This book is never suspenseful.
