Book: The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Giver is an entertaining good read for about 12 years and up. Before you are 12 I think this book may be a little confusing. This book tells the story about a young boy named Jonas who lives in a community where everything is the same. Everyone gets there jobs picked for them when they are 12. Jonas got told he was going to be a "Giver." Jonas goes through many adventures and finally finds what he is looking for.

Book: The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
This book is a great read for people that are a bit over fantasy. This book is cool because it shows you the life of someone that lived in a different decade. The 'realness' of this book is what makes it interesting. It is also a great book about friendship and family.
What does your friend need to know in order to read this book?
To read this book you need to know that the name or group called Greasers were a gang/type of social class that was used to describe the poor. They called them Greasers because they lived in slums and greased their hair. You also need to know that Socs (sowsh) is short for socials and is also a gang/ social class. They represent the rich kids and are considered snobby brats.

He expects that he will never have to go back to College Hill, the place that he and his family were known as poor white trash. And why should he? Book: The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin
This book was interesting in a way because it makes you think. There are so many mysteries and you start to piece together the answer just to find out that it is wrong. This book was ok. It just was not full of all the action and adventure that I think a mystery book should have.
What does your friend need to know in order to read this book?
The book is a little bit complicated with all of the characters, so it kind of confused me at first. All you really need to know is some simple logic that everyone should know by now.

Book: Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs
I thought this was an amazing memoir about a young boy's journey through childhood while living with an abusive mother and an adopted family who have no sense of morals, and have beliefs such as "insulting each other is healthy, because it allows us to release our feelings in a healthy manner."
What does your friend need to know in order to read this book?
You need to be able to handle it in a mature manner, because there are a lot of adult themes in this book.
